Lagi-lagi PETRONAS

This is what happen when politician tries to dictate what PETRONAS do and plan to invest. Obviously their long hours of reading does not include effort to gain Economic background advantage. Whatever la...

FROM THE STAR:

Petronas's setting up of medical centre based on return of investmentBERNAMA

KUALA LUMPUR, WED:
The involvement of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) in the healthcare sector with the setting up of the Price Court Medical Centre (PCMC) is based on the commercial return of investment, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Senator Tan Sri Amirsham Abdul Aziz said today.

He said the aim of setting up PCMC was to provide Malaysians with health services of international standard. It was part of the corporate social responsibility initiative by Petronas and in line with its corporate mission to contribute to the well-being of the people and nation, Amirsham said.“The setting up of PCMC also helped to add to the government’s efforts in providing medical services under the health tourism programme,” he said in a question-and-answer session at the Dewan Rakyat. He was replying to a question from Mohamed Azmin Ali (PKR-Gombak) on the costs of building and managing the five-star PCMC owned by Petronas and the rationale for the national oil company’s involvement in the sector.

Amirsham said among the services offered by PCMC were those by specialists in critical areas like cancer, heart and lung, women and children, urology, neprology and men’s health, plastic surgery, cosmotology, dermatology and burns.According to him, PCMC is the only private hospital in Malaysia equipped with the hyperbaric chamber facilities to treat burn victims and expedite their recovery.Asked if Petronas proposed to set up a fund to help poor people in getting treatment at the medical centre, he said there was no such proposal at present but people could still use PCMC for specific treatment.

Aku Terima Nikahnya .. Dia

Sedutan dari speech toastmaster ku… Haha…

“I do”
“Till Death Do Us Part”
“Aku Terima Nikahnya”
Marriage is wonderful. Being married means that you have to fall in love over and over again, but ALWAYS with the same person. However, people would always have the common question of: How would you know whether the person I am married to is the right one?

I for once, is not married and this is the type of question that I would be asking those who have. How would you know that you have falled for that RIGHT one?

Love does not just happen to you. Trust me, you can never just suddenly stumble upon those lasting love because it does not truly exist. And talking from a person who has been single for 4 years, there is NO such thing as Love at First Sight that will last! The secret however, is very simple. THE KEY TO SUCCEEDING IN MARRIAGE IS NOT FINDING THE RIGHT PERSON; IT'S LEARNING TO LOVE THE PERSON YOU FOUND. You have to know WHAT TO DO to make your marriage work.

Love in marriage is indeed a "decision".. . Not just a feeling. Don’t rush in just because you want to jump in the bandwagon and regrettably end up getting a divorce. I was in Mahkamah Syariah last week, and trust me, it was no fun seeing those who have before solemnly swear to spend the rest of their life together then decided to stand before a judge and tell tales of each other’s unpleasant behavior to the judge. And at the point that the husband decide to recite the talaq, your whole love life suddenly flashes right in front of your eyes. Then you’d be telling yourself that you probably did not find THAT right person. Is that right? So, what happen to love at first sight, or that guy is THE right one (probably at that point in time)

Remember this always (I quote) "God determines who walks into your life ,It is up to you to decide who you walk away, who you allow to stay, and who you refuse to let go. May we find happiness in our love life, and those we cherish the most.

Apa Hak Mereka?

This is what I read from some random blog:

… Our national wealth must be accounted for in a transparent manner. We need to know how much is earned by Petronas and we know in detail how this acquired wealth is being managed and spent. We need to know how much those in the ranks of hierarchy are being paid and how they are rewarded. What kinds of bonuses do they receive? How much is their gratuity when they retire?

And then Khir Toyo recent comment on his famous blog:
"Janganlah terlalu dipentingkan keuntungan beratus juta syarikat berkaitan kerajaan (Government Link Company - GLC) sehingga rakyat di bawah menderita. Apa penting diumumkan keuntungan besar syarikat ini tetapi rakyat tidak merasai apa-apa?" katanya.
Selain itu Khir juga menyarankan Petronas dan semua GLC negara mengumumkan keuntungan kepada kabinet sebelum kabinet memutuskan jumlah bonus yang perlu di berikan kepada mereka.

In the wake of the RM0.78 petrol increase, everyone now talks about the infamous role that PETRONAS plays in managing the price increase and the effort to solemnly share the burden of the rest of the population. I fret everytime I read a post about PETRONAS. How dare they talk like they own us (or probably the do. Gosh, what a realisation).

Malaysian are very oblivious about the world scenario. They are comparing PETRONAS to other governmental body which does not come close to generating even some minor revenue of the country, and they expect that we (PETRONAS staff hereafter) would want to share our well-deserved hard-earned value of bonus with the rest of the government bodies.

Look at this. It is bad enough that we do not get the market pay that we deserve, now we are being denied our only solace.

They (the community in large hereafter) often talk about globalisation and moving PETRONAS towards Global Championship, but how could we when we are being treated like a second class workers in a first class cash generating world? How do we compete with the likes of Shell, Exxonmobil, Total or even NOCs like Petrobras and CNPC when we are getting ridiculously un-competitive pay and benefit?

I’ve heard talks from unhappy friends who were seriously considering joining their other peers in Middle East, as they were not happy with the recent rumours of a 2-month bonus. (As the writer now listen to background noise of “Oi bersyukurlah”, “Ek ele.. 2 bulan pun nak komplen”, “Macam2 aa orang PETRONAS ni”).

We deserve so much more boys & girls. Please do not compare us conglomerate with your own (unless it is another Oil & Gas company), as we are pretty much aware of our net worth. I am still proud to be serving the nation, but with all this money tension all around, I may just drop my national pride and walk away.

DDYPC Toastmasters Meeting - Pecah Ais

I had my first taste of an ice breaking speech + appointed Toastmaster of The Evening in the DDYPC session just now. Woo.. double wham.

They say i have the spirit and enthusiasm, but i don't think that i did very well. Anyway, wanted to post this speech that i had managed to draft this morning at 1. Gosh, at least it was not that bad.

It's my first ice breaker entitled 'Bang'. Read on. Haha....
--
Dear fellow toastmaster,
I had the pleasure of receiving the invitation by our esteemed guest, Grace Tan from the Friendship Toastmaster to attend their session in Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club last Tuesday. Hang on there, this is not a promotional gazette of the wonderful session that I had, and how Mr Daniel here so-called volunteered me to take up one of the table topic session, titled “If I am A Woman Who Decided to Take Up A Sex Operation, What Skills Do I Require to Become A Man”.

Anyway, we were given a 10 minutes toilet break (and for some ladies to do some mass texting to their many boyfriends). It was shocking for me to see 14 missed calls from my brother, and a text from him that read something like, “Oit. Why don’t you pick up the phone. Abah accident” I had the shock of my life there and then. I quickly rush home, and I was thankful that both my parent did not sustain any major injuries, as the car came close to plunging to a 10m drain.

A series of event always lead to another. A month before, my brother just had an accident involving the motorcycle that he rode with another 1 tonne lorry. The motorcycle ran into the back of the lorry as it made a sudden emergency break right after the Jalan Kuching roundabout. Both his leg were broken and it took 5 hours and 2 doctors to operate on his rig leg only. Right now, he is undergoing physiotherapy to fully recover.

The run of bad luck in terms of driving did not actually start from my parent. I have to admit as this is an ice breaker speech about myself, I am actually the star of the whole show today. I am the most accidental-prone person in my family.

It seems that I always have a run with bad luck in terms of driving. I am not sure whether the saying that men are just a better off driver than women are annoyingly the simple truth that I dare not challenge or I am jinx. Ooowww….

My first accident happen almost 2 years ago, when I drove into the back of a brand new white Myvi. I need to make an obvious confession about myself. I am a workaholic. At one time when I was still working in Carigali’s Strategic Planning, I have worked non-stop for 3 whole months preparing for a board presentation. I worked on both weekends, and tend to go back at about 10 pm every single day. On the last day before the presentation, I decided to take some time off and hang out with friends in Shah Alam. The next day when the team was supposed to present the finding to Tan Sri and I was very eager to see the end of the project, I had my very first accident.

The first accident is always the scariest part. You don’t know what to do, or how to react. Luckily I posses my secret power of having Puss in Boots sympathy look, and the other lady was not quick to splash out on me. I was obviously angry at myself and at how stupid my driving was. It was supposed to be THE day, but turns out to be an unlucky day for me.

However, things tend to work out for the best in the end, as I was awarded a hefty Outstanding Recognition for my Performance Appraisal in that year. Somehow I thought, woo… perhaps I could run into an accident before each Performance Appraisal ends then all is justified,

My second most memorable accident happen approximately a year after. I was driving from Port Dickson after finishing the school program for the students whom I teach under the BAKTI program. The accident occurred after the Sungai Besi toll, just right in front of Mines Hotel.

It was a great Toyota impact. I didn’t manage to stop in time when the Harrier in front of me made a sudden emergency brake. My impact on Harrier butt causes its impact to the Wish in front. My car was badly damaged that I had to push off the door as it was stuck, and I felt lucky that I wore my seatbelt at all times. There goes my insurance claim again.

Fellow toastmasters,
I am going to stop now as I do not want to embarrass myself further. I could continue on the story and tell you about my other small accidents like the scratch you see now on my front bumper while trying to park, or the time when I got lost in Puchong and tried to make a u-turn and ran into another car at the other side of the road.

I think I have now managed to let you all know that through all these practice and experiences, I have now become a much better driver than before. Oh, did I mention to you that I’ve just gotten my full license on the 18 May 2008. And yeah, these incidents all happen within these past 2 years.

Perhaps I was too bold in terms of driving, perhaps I wanted that rapid learning experience and boast saying that yeah, I’ve done that, I’ve experienced that, I’ve made it alive! But all these accident happens either when I was tired, not thinking straight or even trying to bend some law.

Sometimes you would think that toastmasters club is set up to help people who wants to sharpen his or her communication skill, but what about those who wants to sharpen their driving skills? Let me tell you a secret. Learn from the expert … practice makes perfect. I am available for consult anytime, anywhere .. MOC…. Minimal of Charge. Thank you toastmasters.

Carca Merba - Esok Cuti Yeay!

I couldn’t start my work since morning, and felt quite clueless really. Had the normal early morning coming to work at 730 (but as usual, my collegue beat me to it by coming much earlier at 630) feeling famished. Aiman is in Maya, so I had to resort to IA for a quick nutritious breakfast. Well, you wouldn’t say that its nutritious when I had the nasi lemak feast on Level 4.

I haven’t been going to the gym for about a month now, ever since my brother had the accident. Had to go home and care for him (more of a reason really, since I hardly do that now) and focusing on some other ‘commitment’. Haha..

Anyway, I really couldn’t start doing work after breakfast. The nasi lemak really got to my brain; closing all the pro-active nerves eager to do some real work. So, I have been writing some emails, reading some SPE Salary reports (which says that South East Asia worker’s getting paid the lowest – expat with the same qualification and experience level gets paid 4 times more than the local), and reading & installing the new P6 software worth 20K that I just got from the supplier. The freaking 4CD + 1 DVD which does not even have any proper hard-copy manual (Go Green!) cost the company 20K, pending the other 80K PertMaster software which will come sometime in June. Gost, that’s like my 2 years salary on the table. Lose it and expect zilch salary for the next 24 months of your life. Unless of course my beloved Pet gives a 12 months bonus for its miraculous achievement this year – Oh wait, even if that happens, I still would be working without pay for the next 1 year of my career. Ok, I’ll lock up this software someplace safe…

Anyway, went to a friend’s wedding on Saturday and Nely … CONGRATS!

Mr Auditor, Nely & Hubby, Suhana with short hair (damn it, i've revealed myself)

Something for u guys... Muah Muah.

Rambut Pendekku Mendapat Komen

“Oh, dah potong rambut”
“Haha.. Aik perasan ke.”

He smiled. She smiled back and walked away.

That was the brief conversation that Suhana had this morning with one of the guard at work. Out of the 10 something thousand of people working there, the guard recognize her. Wow, even my alter ego was very much impressed.

There was another guard she remembered earlier from her early days in the towers, whom were overly friendly. At one point, he emailed her just to say hi. Don’t ask me how he knows her name or got her email address as she was stunned herself. Probably Suhana just have that impact on people :p.

So Suhana is tired and began writing nonsense that she can recall from today. That’s the only significant thing that is worth remembering.

Anyway, she has to finish up this paperwork for a meeting tomorrow. She’s sleepy and deciding to surf the net first then sleep and continue work at 3.30 am later. If only we can trigger our brain to work at a specified time frame. If only everything is always THAT simple.

Anyway, hi peeps. Have a good working Friday tomorrow!

Ps: I’ll post my new short tomboyish hair look whenever I am ready to show it off to the world. Btw, I so cannot wear those baju kurung on Friday anymore, as it doesn’t go with this macho look. How la nak pegi wedding this weekend. Can I cancel? Arrghhh…

Tahniah ATAU Takziah?

So, what is Mahathir trying to prove?

I am still in shock, and totally devastated to read the news of Che Det’s sudden exit from the United Malays National Organization.

The country is in deep drain. I was made known of his decision from reading the statement in Che Det’s blog and it got me startled. At first, I appraised the brave step he took to correct what went wrong in the party, but after some rationale thought (which came way after I commented on his blog – Tun, I respect whatever decision you have made, and will make in the future. And i always believe that you think things through before making them. Making a different to the world means big sacrifice. Well done!), it got me thinking.

How the outside world is looking at us? Would there be anymore stability when one of the most sought after leader in the country no longer have faith in its organization and decided to leave? Yes, he could condemn, he could right whatever is wrong but to quit from the party … what was he thinking?

I have the utmost respect to the guy, but it bugs me a lot to note that his departure from the party come at the expense of the country. I see that the foreigners are laughing hard at our face, and there goes the national credibility. Your hope of a great 2020 is shattered when you realise that Tun is no longer there to ‘direct’ and necessitate changes to the party. The great man becomes an average man overnight.

Is it the right decision? Will this mean that Anwar’s era would come sooner than what you would have expected?

Don’t get me wrong. I love Anwar. I bought Newsweek (which I don’t normally read) upon knowing that he was on the cover. That was a great reading by the way. And last week or so when he was in the 100 Most Influential Man in Times magazine, I quickly grab a copy before it runs out. Anwar’s story has always been a enjoyable reading.

But Anwar is no Tun. I would have a tough choice deciding the man I would love to administer the country (Anwar vs Mahathir) as each have its own strength and weaknesses, but I think Mahathir AND Anwar combination was the best the country has ever had. If only things were different then.
