Terima Kasih Kalian

I had a fun Family Day last weekend. To all who helped out, thank you from the bottom of my heart (like KH said, deeper than the Mauritania well that we're drilling right now). To those who weren't able to atttend.., you guys missed out on a whole lot of fun.

I'll post pix when i got those (too bad i was so busy chasing around that i wasn't there at the right moment the photographers were shooting. Darn.)

It was hard work for these past few months, but it did pay off at the end. Everyone had major fun, and you guys have put on a stunning show. Well done!

I have received many congratulations right from En A* N* himself who was very happy with the whole event to other bosses and collegues whom were very impressed by our effort to coordinate a mega scale event for 2000+ pax. En C* K* S* himself was very pleased, that he has managed to persuade ** to grant the special break that you guys so much deserve (which you guys have keep a very low profire off, right?).

It was great collaborative effort right from the start! The promotion team did a great pre-event work with the newsletter, website as well as the bunting & banner design. Thank you Yani, Kemal, Afira, Etty and the rest of the team. I was almost in tears when I saw the 2 buntings up in display. Also, if it was not for Noraini, I would never have noticed losing some RM ‘tut’K from my bank account acting like I am the richest 5 digits bank account holder around. The Reg team whom had their hands filled with packing and arranging the gifts: Zal, Afzan, Kak Zai, Kak Ita, Kak Shikin and many others, thank you for the late hours that you have put in ensuring that the goodie bags are in place.


Our journey for Family Day started off later in the Friday afternoon at Tiara. After the long meeting with the Tiara management and realizing the heavy work we have that night, we decided to bribe the committee with as much food they can enjoy. Indeed, the sumptuous feast that we had at ‘Jom Makan’ was a delight as many were then already in the right mode to put up some hard work after. To those who have stayed up with us until 4 am on Saturday, thank you very much for your effort & contribution that night/morning. Too bad we couldn’t have the movie outing with our sleeping bags on.


Next day, Saturday was d’day… Reg&Gift team was ready on the move, Event&Games team was already strategizing their modus operandi, and F&B team led by Faeizah is busy re-aligning their taste bud to satisfy the 2000+ crowd that day. It was madness I tell you.

The Young Professional workshop have already started at as early as 7.45 am (myself and Huda had to set the alarm at 7.30 so that we can give Jean a call to seek progress, and continue our sleep until about 8.30. Haha). The feedback that we got from the students and parents were excellent! By midday, I can already see Fiza running wildly from one room to another commanding excellence from her team. Shylla was also worrying about the rooms allocation, making calls every now and then to ensure everything was in the right order. In KLCC, Asraf was having his own headache when some whom registered for the bus opted to use ‘other’ mode of transportation. You can feel the tense right from KL to PD.

We kicked off our very own Family Day with the Opening Ceremony emceed by the talented Haha and E’e. It was a job well done! The mascots were a major hit with the kids, who were eager to take photos with them. They were our instant celebrity (to those faces that we did not know :p) thanks to Cik Atim who had managed to persuade them to proudly wear their costumes during those 2 hot sunny days! To Astriyana & the dancing team, thank you very much for the great performance that you guys have managed to pull through! Top class guys!

Later that afternoon, I can already feel droplet from the sky, and so did a few others. The sun was not shining as bright as it was in the early morning. But in the end, we survived the fear. It turned out to be an excellent weather after all, and the telematch was a major success. I guess, they did have the ‘bomoh hujan’ to guard the day (or so they say).

Farid became the hero of the day when he rescued the damsel in distress who met with an after event injury. In return of his good favor, she asked him to marry her (ask Farid in detail :D..errr). In between the chaotic mode of attending to the girl, Aznil grab the walkie talkie from me and initiated contact with Farid. (Farid masuk.. Farid masuk.. …) Gee.. Farid, I so don’t sound like Aznil (not in a million years!)

We survived the dinner scare! Aznil was marvelous, right from the start. Firdhaus, thank you for taking up the role at the last 2 weeks before the event, and even able to pull the excellent team who then became the unspoken heroes, our very own DD trainees, Afny, Hazirah, Johan, Haq and many others who had to play double roles from ushering during the day, to telematch and continued off with Dinner. You guys rocks!

The night continued until about 2 am, with more preparation work to be done especially by the 2nd Day games committee. The talent time was indeed a memorable experience, with the smell of ‘poo-poo’ still up my head. But overall, we had managed to gain great no of crowd in the kids, couples and especially the singles ‘Fear Factor’ games. Yeah Muaz, I will practice dunking my head on the watermelon the next time I eat one!

The event concluded at about 1 pm, and the remaining committee stayed up until about 6 pm for the last minute packing up. The teh tarik session at R&R Seremban while waiting for the road to clear up has open up a lot of ‘stories’ that I am sure that you would love to hear. For info, we did manage to plan out our 2009-2012 Family Day schedule for PGSS deliberation :D.

So, hear me out all. We will have our very own DD Interaction Day Committee Appreciation Get Together soon! Please lock the date: 26th April 2008 in your calendar for our event, while the venue is to be announced soon. En Azhar himself wanted to personally attend this event, to show his support and appreciation.

There are more heroes & heroin whom I did not manage to write about, but if you guys are on this list or reading this by chance, I wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart. We had months of tireless planning work, and you guys have done very well. It was not easy to organize an event for a crowd of 2000+ pax, but now you can freely inform others that you have managed to be involved in a major event that went marvelously well.

There is more post-event work, but let us rest for this next 2 days before the other work begin. I will catch up with all of you some time soon.
