I am so freaking pissed right now. Here I am in the office trying to work my ass off for the company, but I was refuse entryto the tower. Why? They say that I am not dressed decently!
What the…. I am wearing my decent jeans, and sleeveless top. It’s not like I am wearing a spaghetti top in short skirt, or even a singlet with hot pants. It’s just the sleeveless top!
How can you define decent or not? Would this actually means that I have to be fully covered from now on?
Screw that.
I am just annoyed with the fact that I actually come to the office during the weekend untuk syarikat tercinta, but I was not even appreciated. How silly is that! I know how to differenciate decency from not. My brain is powerful enough to translate right from wrong k.
But I guess maybe that’s not the case for the guards, cleaners of those technicians working in the tower. They are just such a perv. Their hormone rushing with desire when they see flesh of human skin. Damn those perv.
I am still angry, and I don’t think I can work. Just gonna pack my bag and leave. Goodbye office. You had just lost one hardworking staff, and now I don’t care s**t anymore about finishing this work.

Sorry to hear that Sue. That's the way it is here in Malaysia I guess. Although, if it were on a weekday, there are plenty other women wearing sleeveless, and they don't get refused entry into the towers do they?
On the other hand, you don't have to be so hard working that you need to come to the office on the weekends, right? Haha. Just messing with ya.
Double standards....take it easy girl. I feel for you on this one.
think it happens to ALL of us,
at least once!
i had to find out the hard way gok,
i was refused entry for wearing
long (at least to me) shorts!
being me, i tried talkin to the guard,
and once the conversation went to
"takleh encik, nanti orang lain tengok",
i was like, "dude, its 5 PM on a
SUNDAY, dere wont BE anyone around" 8-D
but knowing me, i also dont take
things lying down either,
so the following weekend i went again,
packed shorts in the backpack,
once i was done, changed,
and waltzed through security
proudly displaying my shorts
...you shouldve seen the look
on their faces 8-D
at the end of the day kan,
theyre just doin their jobs,
so i wouldnt get too upset
if i were you
besides, there IS a way to beat
the system AND have a bit of a laugh
as well, so... 8-D

now, now. it's obvious the burden of work has dragged you down, writer. it's nothing to do with them being pervs or that they're guards & cleaners & low-hierarchy people. it's just that you're tired with the modern world. take a break. take a deservedly break for yourself. all you need is a time away from everything for a bit. and you'll be fine like a robot with new batteries. worries not, you'll be fine :)
I am pissed again.
Yesterday, the guards tahan me again. What’s the problem this time???
I wasn’t wearing my tag! How stupid can you be! It’s all because I keep my tag on the small wallet in my handbag instead of flaunting it proudly to the guards. Damn it! damn it! They are picking up small matters such as this lately. What’s with the efficient-ness?
Hmm… spoils my mood the whole morning.
Anyway…
Hi a/j/f,
Been a while since i last heard from you. Update update!
True2... such biasness in this world. Haha..
Avoch,
Coolness ~~~. At least, you didn't have your name on the 'salah laku' list. Damn. It's like high school when you get demerit points every time the prefect tahan you. Gosh… they gonna report it to the HR manager/head master after 3 offences. Gee.. I’m scared…
Anonymous,
I must admit that I am a workaholic.
Yeah, I need a big break… definitely. But I thought that I just had one. Sigh..
well, i must say that u r not being rational. and u had brought down your standard to a level that was unexpected of u...
the guards are doing what they have been instructed to do...and some of the rules come from the very top management...even from the Pres, the guy that you serve and u would be so proud of if u ever receive any compliment from him...so, dont blame the people for having the courage to pull out their responsibilities...and committed to what they do...just like u...
they are just as hardworking as you are...12 hours shift...day and night...some of them are working 36 hours non-stop when there are functions...they are standing while u r sitting in the office...they cant even take a smoke break while u can go to pantry at any time u wish...they start at 7.00am sharp while u can come at 8.00++...
now u will say that it is because u r smarter than them...unfortunately for you, attitude and character have more values than intelligence...judging from what u just wrote...u are lacking of what really matters in life...
so, dear...dont think u are the only one working hard...get over yourself and try to understand others...
Ok, I am sorry if I sound like I condemn the guards. I am sorry if I sound like I am telling the world that I work harder than they do (truthfully) which is normally longer than the normal 12 hours shift (and come before 8.. mind you) or that I am very much dedicated to the company.
But the truth is this is the part where I tell you that I condemn the system that was created to discipline the staff. This is the part where I urge you to think about why other companies could excel when they are not being pesky about small things. This is the part where I want you to open your eyes and look at injustice being created between staff in your tower, and those who resides in the other tower.
I never look down at people, but if you would like to judge me that way, it is irrelevant to me. I am done trying to please everyone.
It’s very disappointing to realize that we have to adhere to lots and lots of rules that we could not make sense of. If you are talking about dress code… I don’t get why slippers are not allowed during weekends. I mean, I never wear slippers going out, but I would understand some friends who do, and due to protocol, they are not allowed the decency to work in the office. But I would understand other dress code like spaghetti top, tube etc. Yeah, logically, why do you need to dress like you want to go clubbing. And yesterday, of course I was angry. You were not giving warning beforehand and suddenly, you are already an offencer. How ridiculous it is knowing that your name is already somewhat in the black area, when your offence is very minimal. And when you are trying to challenge that, the excuses given are of course not to your sensible satisfaction.
Yes, eventhough the rules come from the top management, it wouldn’t deter me from voicing out my disappointment and seek clarification. And yes, I hold much respect for the guy, but it doesn’t mean that I agree with everything that he says. You don’t take instruction blindly you see.
And cut people some slack will ya. Try not to over analyse thing.
I can't agree more with your points. Sometimes the system & rules we have in this world don't make sense, not even close to practical. I was denied entry before, for wearing knee length shorts. The second time, I was denied for wearing JEANS. Yes, jeans, no matter how decent they are.
However, a SM gave me a different insight recently. Well, his opinion really. He said some rules are there for a reason. For the dress code during the weekend, it's more to "branding" and public perception. Since our office is a national landmark + world icon, and once the highest building in the world, the top management wanna keep a certain standard. We don't want people see us going in & outside the office wearing shorts, singlet & selipar jepun don't we?
Perhaps the very same reason why some high class restaurants denied customers' entry for not wearing a freaking tie. Who cares if they're billionaires right? If you don't have a tie, you can't go in.
My 2 cents. Hehe.
theres always solutions to everything kan,
personally id just come in from the
other tower, and take the bridge instead
less saket ati, more scenic route ;-)
theres plenty of things about
this place of ours
which tends to make me laugh,
and theres plenty of other things
worth labeling 'salah laku' with as well ;-)

u work in tower 1 ke? come to tower 2 la. a bit lenient. huhu.
i was also denied entry on one weekend because i wore cargo shorts and on another weekend because i wore sandal.
one senior manager (now a general manager in your division) once called me into his room to complain about the guard who denied his entry one weekend just because he wore sandal. he was not satisfied with the treatment because one datuk vp is allowed entry every morning after his usual jog around the park, eventhough datuk vp wears short. so, why the double standard?
i have no explanation nor comment to give...
all the above incidents aside, the dress code is actually written in the code of conduct and discipline which is published in myHRM. sleeveless falls under 'provocative' attire (grouped with low cut, v-neck, transparent, tight clothing etc, if i'm not mistaken).
on your tag incident... actually, it is written on the application form for the tag (small prints though) that it must be worn at all times when u'r in any of the company's premises (including the towers). it also state on the form that you must use the provided tag holder (and i believe the rantai as well) because they have certain 'security features' (written on the form). from my observation, the guards are quite lenient on the holder + rantai requirement (because of the 50 years merdeka lanyard kot or probably they just don't know)
it is always this small2 things that makes staff unhappy, but they are there for some 'deliberated' reasons. sometimes, it doesn't even make sense... until something not-so-nice happens, then, only staff will say 'ohhh...'
i've seen this happen a number of times in my line of work, and even to me... so, i decided just to go with the flow.
work work work.
:) much ado about everything, eh? i think it's only fair to deduce that you were indeed unlucky on both counts you were denied access.
but one thing i would love to speculate, was it the same guardman who deny you of your access? was he trying to get your phone number or have a small chat (which apparently untimely & pisses you off). afterall, one can only speculate so much, huh?
but i'm proud that our young generations, like you, understand the importance of non-conformity. our culture has long taught us to conform time & time again. so it's wonderful to say otherwise once in a while.
so keep up the good vibes, it's always good when we agree to disagree on something :)
Judd
Perhaps the branding does make sense. But are we cadets or something?
Avoch,
Yeah2.. I think I need to activate my bridge pass. Hey, I never see you in Tower 1 pun. Surely you never come here what,..
Sayuti,
I guess that’s the best to explain, prevention is better than cure. I am much settled now, and you can see that I proudly show my pass on my shirt. At least every now and then people would stop to admire my ‘so-called-15 year old photo’.
Non-conformitance
Unlucky? Gosh… I wish to disagree with whatever you have speculated. Erkk… The small chat became a big ONE indeed.
Haha.. Thanks all. I think I have accepted the fact that I need to live up to all these rules. Else, bungkus tikar and bukak company sendiri la kan.. :D
