luahan ini... kecewa

I feel the need to blurt out this annoying truth.

It’s not great being single. There’s too many friend on your date list whenever you need a date for a party or event. You don’t know who to choose cause later they will think that your invitation is a sign for a commitment from you.

It’s not great being single. There are too many birthdays that you need to remember cause everyone is special in your life. You need to send cards and gifts, as they always remember your birthday (sometimes simply because you are single and they thought that they can give it a long shot anyway).

It’s not great being single. When you are sad and needed to confide to someone other than you female friends, you are not sure who that one person to choose from (unless he’s gay). Alas, you end up seeking comfort from many, and getting your kesian act all together.

But really, it’s not great being single. Cause when your brother is sick, no one comes to cheer you up. No one remembers you (except for your girlfriends).

Sigh.

Long sigh…

Adikku Bertemu Kemalangan

As I walked into the Emergency Unit, I saw him on the hospital bed looking helpless as ever. Two nurses and a trainee doctor were just at each side of the bed trying to calm him down. His newly bought pant (which was bought for the sole purpose of a government interview that he flunks because he was not able to march properly) and his blue office attire were tainted in red.

He holds on tightly to my hand, trying hard to divert his focus from the excruciating pain on both his legs. The two doctors who operated on him had the earlier intention to place the plates on both legs, but they got stuck doing his left leg only. There were multiple fractures on his left leg that it took 5 hours for them to operate on before they decided to call it a day.

I remembered him telling me right before the surgery, “Aku dah takde kaki”.

I was almost in tears. It will take at least 6 months before he can fully recover with 50% chance of full recovery,. He called in ma and they were both in deep tears. I knew at that instant that I need to leave the room.

I just felt bad for the un-seemingly run of bad luck that my brother had. I felt even worse when I knew that we were suppose to go and fix my headlights that day, and I was annoyed that he was late. I was just about to leave the house and do my chores when a pakcik came to the house to let us know that my brother was involved in an accident.

I took my car key and rush off to Hospital Selayang, where the ambulance had already made its way. And at that instant, I pray to God that it was nothing major.

He was in pain for a few hours before the doctor informed us that they could not operate instantly. There is already a long queue and since they only operate on Tuesday and Thursday, the next available option would be at least 1 or 2 weeks from then. We gasped in awe.

There and then, the critical decision was made. My brother is not insured, nor could he afford an expensive private care but we made a family decision to send him anyway. And that’s how I got to camp out in Colombia Hospital Puchong since Monday, and that was the last time I saw my room in Gombak.

After 3 days, I can tell you that he’s recovering but still in pain. Please pray for his speed recovery. God Bless.

Terima Kasih Kalian

I had a fun Family Day last weekend. To all who helped out, thank you from the bottom of my heart (like KH said, deeper than the Mauritania well that we're drilling right now). To those who weren't able to atttend.., you guys missed out on a whole lot of fun.

I'll post pix when i got those (too bad i was so busy chasing around that i wasn't there at the right moment the photographers were shooting. Darn.)

Anyway, this goes out to all my team!
---

Dear all,

It was hard work for these past few months, but it did pay off at the end. Everyone had major fun, and you guys have put on a stunning show. Well done!

I have received many congratulations right from En A* N* himself who was very happy with the whole event to other bosses and collegues whom were very impressed by our effort to coordinate a mega scale event for 2000+ pax. En C* K* S* himself was very pleased, that he has managed to persuade ** to grant the special break that you guys so much deserve (which you guys have keep a very low profire off, right?).

It was great collaborative effort right from the start! The promotion team did a great pre-event work with the newsletter, website as well as the bunting & banner design. Thank you Yani, Kemal, Afira, Etty and the rest of the team. I was almost in tears when I saw the 2 buntings up in display. Also, if it was not for Noraini, I would never have noticed losing some RM ‘tut’K from my bank account acting like I am the richest 5 digits bank account holder around. The Reg team whom had their hands filled with packing and arranging the gifts: Zal, Afzan, Kak Zai, Kak Ita, Kak Shikin and many others, thank you for the late hours that you have put in ensuring that the goodie bags are in place.

Our journey for Family Day started off later in the Friday afternoon at Tiara. After the long meeting with the Tiara management and realizing the heavy work we have that night, we decided to bribe the committee with as much food they can enjoy. Indeed, the sumptuous feast that we had at ‘Jom Makan’ was a delight as many were then already in the right mode to put up some hard work after. To those who have stayed up with us until 4 am on Saturday, thank you very much for your effort & contribution that night/morning. Too bad we couldn’t have the movie outing with our sleeping bags on.

Next day, Saturday was d’day… Reg&Gift team was ready on the move, Event&Games team was already strategizing their modus operandi, and F&B team led by Faeizah is busy re-aligning their taste bud to satisfy the 2000+ crowd that day. It was madness I tell you.

The Young Professional workshop have already started at as early as 7.45 am (myself and Huda had to set the alarm at 7.30 so that we can give Jean a call to seek progress, and continue our sleep until about 8.30. Haha). The feedback that we got from the students and parents were excellent! By midday, I can already see Fiza running wildly from one room to another commanding excellence from her team. Shylla was also worrying about the rooms allocation, making calls every now and then to ensure everything was in the right order. In KLCC, Asraf was having his own headache when some whom registered for the bus opted to use ‘other’ mode of transportation. You can feel the tense right from KL to PD.

We kicked off our very own Family Day with the Opening Ceremony emceed by the talented Haha and E’e. It was a job well done! The mascots were a major hit with the kids, who were eager to take photos with them. They were our instant celebrity (to those faces that we did not know :p) thanks to Cik Atim who had managed to persuade them to proudly wear their costumes during those 2 hot sunny days! To Astriyana & the dancing team, thank you very much for the great performance that you guys have managed to pull through! Top class guys!

Later that afternoon, I can already feel droplet from the sky, and so did a few others. The sun was not shining as bright as it was in the early morning. But in the end, we survived the fear. It turned out to be an excellent weather after all, and the telematch was a major success. I guess, they did have the ‘bomoh hujan’ to guard the day (or so they say).

Farid became the hero of the day when he rescued the damsel in distress who met with an after event injury. In return of his good favor, she asked him to marry her (ask Farid in detail :D..errr). In between the chaotic mode of attending to the girl, Aznil grab the walkie talkie from me and initiated contact with Farid. (Farid masuk.. Farid masuk.. …) Gee.. Farid, I so don’t sound like Aznil (not in a million years!)

We survived the dinner scare! Aznil was marvelous, right from the start. Firdhaus, thank you for taking up the role at the last 2 weeks before the event, and even able to pull the excellent team who then became the unspoken heroes, our very own DD trainees, Afny, Hazirah, Johan, Haq and many others who had to play double roles from ushering during the day, to telematch and continued off with Dinner. You guys rocks!

The night continued until about 2 am, with more preparation work to be done especially by the 2nd Day games committee. The talent time was indeed a memorable experience, with the smell of ‘poo-poo’ still up my head. But overall, we had managed to gain great no of crowd in the kids, couples and especially the singles ‘Fear Factor’ games. Yeah Muaz, I will practice dunking my head on the watermelon the next time I eat one!

The event concluded at about 1 pm, and the remaining committee stayed up until about 6 pm for the last minute packing up. The teh tarik session at R&R Seremban while waiting for the road to clear up has open up a lot of ‘stories’ that I am sure that you would love to hear. For info, we did manage to plan out our 2009-2012 Family Day schedule for PGSS deliberation :D.

So, hear me out all. We will have our very own DD Interaction Day Committee Appreciation Get Together soon! Please lock the date: 26th April 2008 in your calendar for our event, while the venue is to be announced soon. En Azhar himself wanted to personally attend this event, to show his support and appreciation.

There are more heroes & heroin whom I did not manage to write about, but if you guys are on this list or reading this by chance, I wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart. We had months of tireless planning work, and you guys have done very well. It was not easy to organize an event for a crowd of 2000+ pax, but now you can freely inform others that you have managed to be involved in a major event that went marvelously well.

There is more post-event work, but let us rest for this next 2 days before the other work begin. I will catch up with all of you some time soon.

Cheers

Suhana Sidik

Fuhh…. Panjang gila minah ni tulis… If takde nama tu, sorry la ye. Typing this one at a time. Forward2 la kan…. Signing off….

Perempuan itu ketuaku.. Aku Ketua Mereka?

What do you think of lady bosses?

I am currently in charge of organizing a very big event for my division, hence requiring a lot of planning and devotion towards making it a success. In this, I have to compliment myself and the rest of the team members, who are mostly ladies. We are one hardworking lass!

However, there is this certain lady boss who I can’t get along with (probably since Langkawi when she indirectly told me that I am slow).

During one of the meeting last week, we quarrel over simple issue like the seating arrangement for dinner. Of course both of us were trying to have our point across, and it didn’t matter to me that this lady is a Senior Manager in the company. Whilst everyone else did not have the gut to speak their mind, I became the only one vocal against the whole idea. Then came the interruption from the chairman (btw, it was very professional so none of the girlie-fight you see on tv).

I sat down and had a long thought after that as I looked at this lady who sits across me. “Would this be myself in 10-15 years from now?”

Lady boss are such a pain some time, or some might say a lot of time. But probably it is just typical that people stereotype ladies who have made it into that higher position? Boys, we are not too bad of a boss, really! Open up your mind.

I had my whole life flashes in front of me, and currently as the ‘boss’ of a certain organization in the company, I never did ask my team on whether I have been an agonizing torture to them. I must say that I am very demanding, but I do work hard along with them. I expect excellence, but who doesn’t.

I try to hide my seriousness by making silly jokes at time. A camouflage to disguise the fact that I do not like to be labeled a typical lady boss. But do they respect me?

So, what kind of a lady boss have I been, or would be in the future?

Bersihkan Halaman Rumah Anda Dahulu...

The coalition party wobbled over the appointment of the new Perak MB, and yesterday, PKR expresses dissatisfaction over the composition of the Perak state exco, wherein 8 seats are given to DAP and another 2 to the other parties.

To whoever it may concern,
Can you come to a consensus and decide in the best interest of the state, instead of your own party? When the Sultan asked for the candidates for the post of Perak MB, the three spokeperson for the party has earlier mention that they will accept the decision of the Sultan on who he deems fit to become the MB. Later, we learn that the top gun in DAP has instructed his committee to boycott the swearing in.

Ok, let’s see the big picture here.

First the Perak Mentri Besar swearing-in is called off. What can you expect next? They’ll boycott whichever meetings being chaired by then-MB?

Get your grip together guys. Whatever bright picture I have painted here at the back of my mind, has suddenly been clouded by this scenario. Shrewd. Geez… Now the Perak-ians will think, “Did I choose the right reformation?”.

Clean up your backyard!

On another note…

Who’s the smart one here? Surely it’s not the BN (although they are now laughing on their sofa eating popcorn while watching the mini-sinetron by the BA)…
It’s definitely my most handsome, intelligent, articulate Sultan Azlan Shah.

He wanted to know how the 3 parties are planning to make this coalition work, and he tested them with his selection of MB from PAS (which gain the lowest state seat of only 6, as opposed to 7 by PKR and 18 seats by DAP). His intuition pays off, and these DAP was not smart enough to read his plan. It’d be interesting to see what the Sultan has in plan next.

Pendapatku Ttg Pilihan Raya

So, the opposition is no longer the opposition, hence opening a new chapter of the country’s democratic excellence.

I won’t summarise much of what you may have heard or read in the tabloid, through various discussions (where you have actively participate or just a mere observer taking notes of other people’s genuine interest to the oh-so-interesting topic), or from the pleasant viewing of the news on the electronic mode. All in all, BN won by simple majority, lost in 5 states (namely Kelantan, Perak, Selangor, Penang and Kedah) and Pak Lah is again the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

I couldn’t exercise my right to vote eventhough I did register during one of those road shows in Suria KLCC (maybe I don’t fit that right profile of a voter) and wasn’t even bothered to seek justice to the inadequacy of the system to recognize me. But soon after, I regretted the fact that I did not.

I seriously thought that this election would be the routine electorate where in the end, BN would yet again prevail as the power of dominance. The result shocked me… but I was glad.

It shows that the people have bravely spoken their mind, and they wanted changes to happen right this instant. Perhaps this would open a great journey for the ramification of the government who is willing to provide more for its people. Perhaps after this, you could envisage the head to head Clinton-Obama debacle showdown happening to our very own BN vs BA leader. Perhaps it is a start to a better Malaysia as the current government sees the need to gain the trust of the people, and their promise to serve as the better ruling party. Lots of perhaps to this great post-election that I can already envision.

It’d be more interesting to see how new laws will get passed the legislature sitting, as there will more constructive feedback from 1/3 of the opposition (and I do hope its constructive instead of reenacting the hopeless effort of a 5-year old trying to piss off their parent) . There will be new initiative, and lesser laws imposed to silently kill the people (like tolls, petrol, etc).

Let’s just wait and see.

Other things on my mind:
1. Hoping that the stock market will show great improvement, after the sudden decline post- result
2. Anwar taking over the Lembah Pantai parliamentary seat
3. BN won 15 seats by slim margin of less than 200 votes. I wonder if those who didn’t manage to exercise their right to vote now feel somber pain
4. Independent who has decided to take sides after their triumphant (1 is joining PKR, and today, Tanah Rata’s Ho might return to MCA)
5. My babe Iddelz who was thinking of setting up her own party in 10 years to come. You go babe.

And on another note:
Clinton as the President? Obama as the Vice President?
Reverse that?
Wouldn’t US be a better country?

Waiting to Exhale

It was supposed to start off as a pretty great day, not till I was reading the Sun today with its big header: Sign of Love.

Different people do different things to express their love. And this guy did it by putting up a giant billboard asking the girl to marry him. Cute. It only cost him RM40 K.

I spent my Valentine in the comfort of 3 other adorable friends. So, we were celebrating the Single Awareness Day, but they made it so much fun to be and feel single. Lefty was absolutely hilarious.

I had a chat about my personal enigma with Big Boss yesterday. I told him how everyone around me is getting hooked up, and I am still having a great deal of headache over finding the right one. They all give you the same advice and you couldn’t help but feel more let down.

I remember cheeky giving me some interesting quotes before, from the book ‘Waiting to Exhale’ that she was reading. Here it goes…

“Am I not a good catch or what?”
“We’re all good catches,” Bernadine said.
“Why are we all such good catches?” Savannah asked, leaning forward on her elbows and motioning for the other bottle of champagne.
“Because we’ve got good hearts and we’re good lays and we’re nice people. Isn’t that enough?” Bernadine said.
“Well, since you knew so damn much, why are we having such a hard-ass time meeting Mr. Wonderful?” Robin asked. Nobody had the answer to that one.

Yes, does anyone have the answer to that? People keep saying the same thing over and over again, and it is indeed non-reassuring. I wouldn’t say that I had lots of heartbreaks, but I did had a lot of almost… Period.

Few more interesting quotes:
“I know I’m not going to hear from him. And I hate the thought that I made a fool of myself. That I spilled my guts. Made my most intimate feelings known. How could somebody who acted so sincere be so insincere? How could he play with my feelings like this? I would never do this kind of shit to anybody. Never.”
- Waiting to Exhale, pg 368.

“It was my fault. I was the one who made the decision to open up my little heart. I was the one who said, ‘Here, go ahead and have some. Here, go ahead and take it.’ I’ve accepted responsibility for what for what I allowed to happen to me. I gambled. And I lost. But it wasn’t the end of the world.”
- Waiting to Exhale, pg 377.

Gosh.. It totally reflected what I’ve been feeling recently. Then this one:

“The ones that are good for us, we find dull and boring, and then we pick the assholes, the ones who won’t cooperate, the ones who offer us the most challenge and get our blood flowing and shit. Those are the motherfu*kers we fall in love with.”
- Waiting to Exhale, pg 324.

It got to me totally. And at the end, this is what HE said:
Quote from Grey’s Anatomy:
“Too often, the thing you want most is the one thing you can’t have. Desire leaves us heartbroken, it wears us out. Desire can wreck your life.” – Dr Meredith Grey

Yes, life was indeed wrecked.

Aku bengang.. tahap dewa

I am so freaking pissed right now. Here I am in the office trying to work my ass off for the company, but I was refuse entryto the tower. Why? They say that I am not dressed decently!

What the…. I am wearing my decent jeans, and sleeveless top. It’s not like I am wearing a spaghetti top in short skirt, or even a singlet with hot pants. It’s just the sleeveless top!

How can you define decent or not? Would this actually means that I have to be fully covered from now on?

Screw that.

I am just annoyed with the fact that I actually come to the office during the weekend untuk syarikat tercinta, but I was not even appreciated. How silly is that! I know how to differenciate decency from not. My brain is powerful enough to translate right from wrong k.

But I guess maybe that’s not the case for the guards, cleaners of those technicians working in the tower. They are just such a perv. Their hormone rushing with desire when they see flesh of human skin. Damn those perv.

I am still angry, and I don’t think I can work. Just gonna pack my bag and leave. Goodbye office. You had just lost one hardworking staff, and now I don’t care s**t anymore about finishing this work.
